In 2012, Dr. Pauline Voortman completed her doctoral research on trust within organisations. Building on this research, she wrote the book ‘vertrouwen als kompas’ which explains how to strengthen trust in organisations through five practical elements:

  • A clear mission and shared values
  • Well-defined roles, tasks, and responsibilities
  • Strong relationships
  • Good (self)reflection
  • Effective communication

Why is this important?

Trust is crucial; everyone feels that. It is often described as the lubricant of an organisation, yet not everyone knows how to build it actively. Low trust or distrust is highly undesirable, and it can unintentionally arise even with the best intentions. Distrust creates cracks in mutual confidence, making effective collaboration very challenging. In this dynamic keynote, we explore this phenomenon and focus on a central question: How does unintended distrust arise, and what can organisations do to prevent it?

What will we do?

  • An interactive exploration of the psychology of trust and why distrust develops.
  • Experiencing how trust and distrust emerge in practice.
  • Translating theory to your context and discovering ways to strengthen trust or reduce distrust.

Outcomes:

  • A clear understanding of how trust and distrust function, based on current scientific research.
  • The ability to recognise behaviours and circumstances that may unintentionally lead to distrust.
  • Greater skill in reducing misunderstandings and strengthening relationships.
